IP
Abbreviation for Internet Protocol
In short and in plain language
IP is the set of rules for how data moves on the internet.
It says how data gets an address and how it is sent.
The address of a visitor can count as personal data. So it plays a part in data privacy on a site.
This is the case when a site uses services from others.
Definition
The Internet Protocol defines how data is addressed and transferred between devices on the internet. A visitor's IP address can count as personal data. That is why it matters for the data protection of a website, for example when embedding third-party services.
