References and competence areas for landscaping websites

We build websites for landscape gardening businesses. This page carries no invented case studies and no made-up percentages, but our competence areas, typical starting situations from the trade, how a project runs and one client who may be named.

A references page usually carries other companies' logos and a few figures nobody can verify. We do it differently. Our websites are created in close coordination with the business, and many owners prefer not to appear publicly as clients. Invented improvements are out of the question for us anyway, because they would be neither provable nor permissible. So here we show what can be evidenced: our competence areas in landscape gardening, the starting situations businesses come to us with, the route from the first outline to launch, and one client from the trade who may be named.

What this page contains, and what it does not

What you will not find here: before-and-after figures on incoming enquiries, claimed increases in turnover, or assurances about positions in search results. Without clean measurement across several seasons, such statements would not hold up, and the starting point differs considerably from business to business. A company with five crews on the edge of a state capital starts from a different place than a two-person outfit working mainly in rural areas. Anyone who promises you the same number for both cases has made it up. What you will find here instead: a comprehensible description of what we do, how we go about it, what a project costs and how you can tell during implementation whether it is heading in the right direction. We show concrete examples from completed projects in a personal conversation, insofar as the respective clients agree. If you would like an assessment of your own situation, give us a call or write to us via the contact page.

Our competence areas in landscape gardening

A website for a landscape gardening business has different jobs to do than the site of a tax adviser. It has to show work rather than describe it, it has to map an operating area rather than aim for national reach, and it has to cope with the rhythm of the season. These are the fields in which we developed our way of working, and every new project builds on them instead of starting from scratch.

Structured by trade

One page per service instead of a single collective page, so a prospect immediately sees whether you take on their job. Structure and scope are set out on the landscaping website page.

Portfolio gallery

Projects sorted by trade and location, with materials, a short description and, where available, a before-and-after view. More in the portfolio gallery.

Pre-sorting enquiries

Location, trade, approximate area and preferred timing are asked for before the first phone call. All fields are listed on the enquiry form page.

Visibility in your operating area

Being found where trailer and crew can reasonably get to. The approach is described on the local visibility page.

Making your images usable

Shots on the phones in the business become usable project images. What happens in the process is set out under photos for your website.

The season built in

Content for the planning period in winter and for the spring peak, instead of a presence that sounds the same for twelve months. See seasonal planning.

A client from the trade: Viktor Waldbauer, Nordstemmen

We look after the web presence of Viktor Waldbauer Garten- und Landschaftsbau in Nordstemmen. The business works in classic landscape gardening: it lays sand-set slabs, builds terraces, installs cisterns and creates complete garden schemes. What may be named here is what is certain, namely company name, location and trades. We do not publish figures on enquiries, turnover or visibility, neither for this client nor for any other.

  • Sand-set slabs and paved surfaces as a recurring trade
  • Terrace construction from the sub-base to the finished surface
  • Cisterns and the associated drainage
  • Complete garden schemes as a whole project rather than a single service

For the website, a range of services like this means one thing above all: each trade has to be findable on its own, because a prospect rarely searches for landscape gardening as such but for a terrace, for slab laying or for a cistern. At the same time it must remain visible that the business also takes on the complete garden scheme, because that is where the larger contracts sit. Presenting both at once without the site becoming confusing is one of the recurring tasks in our projects. How we resolve it is visible in the structure described on the services page.

Concrete results in a personal conversation

Out of consideration for our clients, we publish no detailed case descriptions and no before-and-after figures. In a personal conversation we are happy to show you completed projects and to talk openly about what changed over which period and what did not. Arrange a free initial consultation.

Typical starting situations in the business

What landscape gardening businesses come to us with

Unsuitable enquiries
Starting point
An empty message field on the old site, plus enquiries with no location, no trade and no indication of area.
Measure
An enquiry form with location, trade, approximate area and preferred timing, and the operating area named visibly on the site.
Result
Incoming enquiries are complete enough to decide on a site visit without calling back.
Images stuck on a phone
Starting point
Finished terraces and garden schemes sit unsorted on two phones, while the website shows stock imagery.
Measure
Reviewed the material, assembled projects, sorted the gallery by trade and location and prepared the images for the web.
Result
Prospects see surfaces from their own area instead of interchangeable motifs.
One services page only
Starting point
Paving, terraces, fencing and grounds maintenance all sit one below the other on a single page.
Measure
A dedicated page per trade with matching project images, a clear description and its own entry point into the form.
Result
Someone looking for a terrace lands on the terrace page, not on a collective page.
Unusable on a phone
Starting point
A site from an earlier website-builder era: tiny text, a phone number that cannot be tapped, a form barely fillable on a phone.
Measure
Rebuilt for mobile operation with a tappable phone number and a short form, with old paths carried over by redirect.
Result
The call is one tap away, and existing links do not run into nothing.
The winter gap
Starting point
Hardly any enquiries from November to March, with crews scheduled late for the spring.
Measure
Added content for the planning period, moved winter maintenance and tree care to the front, and had the form ask about the preferred date next season.
Result
Conversations about larger garden projects start earlier in the year rather than with the first warm weekend.
The neighbouring district
Starting point
Enquiries arrive from towns that cannot be reached economically with trailer and machinery.
Measure
Named the operating area clearly, added dedicated pages for the most important towns and harmonised the details in map and business directories.
Result
The catchment area is recognisable before the enquiry instead of having to be clarified on the phone.

How a project runs

Owners of landscape gardening businesses rarely sit at a desk. The process is therefore set up so that the effort on your side stays low and coordination happens when you are not on site anyway. We prepare drafts and copy, ask only for what we genuinely need and keep queries short. Every step ends with a visible interim result that you either approve or have changed.

How the work can be checked

Since we promise no outcome figures, it is fair to ask what you can judge the quality by. The answer lies in the verifiable properties of the finished site. Every point in the following overview can be looked at, measured or tried out after launch, regardless of how many enquiries arrive in any given season.

Why we work for one trade only

We build websites for landscape gardening businesses and not, on the side, for dentists and car repair shops. This restriction has a practical reason: the recurring tasks are similar in every landscaping project, and the answers to them do not have to be invented anew each time. We know how a services page for paving should be built, which details a prospect looks for before enquiring, and why a form works differently in March than it does in November.

  • Structure, terms and sequence are matched to the trade
  • Typical queries from the business are already accounted for
  • The season is part of the concept, not a later addition
  • Less explaining on your side, because we know the trade

One contact instead of a ticket number

From the first conversation to a text change in the third year of operation, you speak to the same place. There is no handover to a support department and no queue in which you have to explain your project all over again. For a business that runs its website alongside everything else, that often matters more than any additional feature, because a short message with three photos from the day before is enough for a new project to appear in the gallery.

  • A fixed contact for technology, copy and images
  • Reachable on 05123 9579000, without being passed between departments
  • Change requests by simple message instead of through a portal
  • Maintenance and hosting cancellable monthly, with no minimum term

Trades whose language we speak

Paving and pathways

Driveways, yards and paths. Material, bond pattern and sub-base decide here, and that is exactly what the prospect looks for.

Terraces and seating areas

From slabs to timber decking. A trade in which finished surfaces convince more than any description.

Fencing and screening

Often the way into a larger collaboration, because a fence frequently turns into the whole outdoor scheme.

Cisterns and drainage

A topic that needs explaining: what exactly is installed is no longer visible afterwards and has to be understandable beforehand.

Tree care

Seasonally placed differently from new construction, which makes it good content for the quieter half of the year.

Grounds maintenance contracts

Recurring revenue rather than one-off jobs. On the website that needs its own clearly named place.

Winter maintenance

Usually searched for in autumn and rarely in January. Anyone who thinks about it in December is visible too late.

Complete garden schemes

The largest contract volume and at the same time the offering that needs the most explanation. Connected project sequences carry it.

What you will not get from us

  • No assurance of particular positions in search results. We create the technical and editorial preconditions; we do not determine the ranking.
  • No paid adverts and no management of advertising budgets. The website is designed to bring enquiries without ongoing advertising costs.
  • No social network management, no drone footage and no video production. We embed existing material, but somebody else records it.
  • No invented reviews and no bought feedback. We set up a routine with which you ask real customers at the right moment.

What your landscaping website could look like

Three layout drafts for different landscape gardening businesses. They show structure and handling — the businesses in them are fictitious.

Draft
Private gardens

Private garden site with service filter and before-after slider

A draft for a private garden business: six trades can be filtered by group, a slider fades between the original state and the finished garden, and the route from consultation through design and construction to handover has its own section. A further part answers from what area size a full crew makes sense and what happens in the first year after handover. The enquiry form asks for trade, location and area size.

Draft
Commercial grounds care

Grounds maintenance with annual cycle and records

A draft for commercial and municipal grounds maintenance: services appear as line items with interval, quantity and acceptance condition, three client profiles can be switched through, and the annual cycle opens month by month. A separate section shows which records go on file after a site visit, from the job report to the annual summary. Traffic safety duties and public tendering each get an explanatory part.

Schedule of servicesAnnual cycleSafety dutiesJob records
Draft
Tree care

Tree care with cutting periods and storm procedure

A draft for a tree care business: three approaches — crown care, crown bracing and felling — sit side by side on tabs, and the permitted cutting periods have their own section covering federal nature protection law, municipal tree bylaws and species protection. Six warning signs on the tree lead to the question of when an inspection makes sense. Storm damage is described as a four-step procedure, alongside standby hours, equipment and proof of qualification.
