unit price

In short and in plain language

The unit price is the price for one unit of an item.

It is, for example, the price per square metre of paving or per shrub.

The total is the unit price times the amount actually built.

Sometimes more is built, or there is a variation. Then the unit price often helps to set the new price.

Definition
The unit price is the price per unit of an item, for example per square metre of paving or per shrub. The total follows from the unit price multiplied by the quantity actually carried out. For extra quantities or variations it often serves as the basis for pricing.
